Healing Beyond Borders
Guatemala 2025, care that reaches those who need it most.
Every journey back to Guatemala carries the same purpose: to make healing accessible for everyone, no matter how far they live. In 2025, Gotham Acupuncture joined the Global Healthworks Foundation once again, offering free acupuncture and herbal care to hundreds of patients who otherwise might never have the chance.
Support the MissionThe Heart of Giving Back
Before founding Gotham Acupuncture, Dr. Peter Caron spent years providing care in Guatemala and Peru. In 2013, after finishing his acupuncture studies, he moved to Guatemala and ran a mobile clinic for two years, treating more than 10,000 patients alongside Global Healthworks Foundation.
Those years built the foundation for how we practice today, focused on compassion, access, and connection. The same values that guided those early days continue to shape our mission now.
That same commitment brought us back in 2025.
What your support made possible in 2025
During one week in Guatemala, our team, together with local practitioners, cared for 656 patients across multiple communities. Through shared learning and mentorship, nearly 80 Guatemalan healthcare providers are now equipped to continue offering care in their own towns and villages.
To reach people living far from clinic sites, we used mobile microbuses that ran all day, picking up families from remote areas and bringing them safely to and from the clinic.

On the Ground: What Care Looked Like
Every day began before sunrise, triage tables set up, herbs unpacked, and families waiting patiently for care.
Our team worked side by side with Guatemalan practitioners, blending traditional medicine and local knowledge with hands-on acupuncture treatment.
Beyond the needles and herbs, the greatest healing came from connection: listening, learning, and ensuring that the skills we shared could continue long after the mission ended.
This work has never been about numbers. It's about showing up — consistently, respectfully, and with the understanding that healing is most powerful when it's shared.
From Dr. Caron's early years living in Guatemala to this year's mission, the goal remains the same: bring care directly to the people who need it most and help communities sustain it themselves.

The work doesn't stop here. We're planning to return in March 2026, continuing to strengthen local partnerships and provide sustainable healthcare access for more Guatemalan communities. We're deeply grateful for every supporter who made 2025 possible, and for those who will help us continue this journey next year.
