Traumatology

Every culture has developed treatments in response to acute trauma. Chinese medicine uses acupuncture, acupressure, Tui Na, external and internal herbal applications, as well as exercises for flexibility and strength to treat injuries and help the patient return to an active lifestyle. Some of the more common injuries treatable in my clinic are:

Sprains: ankle, wrist, finger, neck, etc
Jammed finger
Muscle Spasm: neck, back, etc.
Contusions/Bruises
Cuts & Lacerations not requiring stitches or emergency care
Minor burns not requiring emergency care
Fractures (only after hospital care has been administered)
Post-surgical scarring

How do you know when to come to my clinic verses western medical emergency care? Anything which you consider an emergency such as broken bones, cuts requiring stitches, cuts which do not stop bleeding, cuts associated with loss of feeling or which cause digits to become cold, moderate to severe burns, dislocations of joints, and certainly internal issues of a critical nature such as stroke, heart attack, shock, etc. should always be seen in the emergency room. However, for injuries which are non-emergencies but for which western medicine offers little more than topical drugs and ice packs, Chinese medicine can be a good choice to speed healing, prevent or treat scarring, restore range of motion, and strengthen injured areas.
